octodog

Talk about fun and easy! This little lunch entree was both! The Cuties had such a great time in the kitchen making and tasting this “under the sea” treat!

Gather your ingredients:

octodogstuff

You’ll need:

1 jumbo hot dog per person

1/2 pack of chicken flavored Ramen noodles per person***

yellow mustard (in a bottle with a small tip)

green food coloring

Adult: Start two saucepans of water heating on the stove. Bring to a boil. One is for the Ramen noodles and one is for the hot dogs.

slicedogs

Starting approximately 2 inches from the top of each hot dog, make straight slices down the hot dog creating 8 “tentacles.”

Place sliced hot dogs in one of the saucepans of boiling water. While the hot dogs are heating, cook the Ramen noodles according to package directions. Both will take approximately 2 to 3 minutes. Just cook hot dogs until heated. Carefully remove them from the boiling water, taking care not to tear any of the “tentacles.”

foodcoloringnoodles

Carefully squirt 5 drops of green food coloring into the prepared Ramen noodles.

stirnoodles

Stir the Ramen noodles well to incorporate the food coloring into them evenly.

octodogface

Place a bed of the colored Ramen noodles on a plate. Top with an octodog, carefully spreading the “tentacles” so the hot dog looks like an octopus. Carefully squirt a mustard “face” on your octodog.

Our little food critic approves! And so does the head chef!

*** If you’re concerned about adding MSG to your Ramen noodles, simply omit adding the seasoning packet and toss the noodles with a little olive oil or butter instead.

Enjoy!

XOXO,

The Cuties,
