BELLPEPTURKEYS

Here’s a fun appetizer that your kids can make for your Thanksgiving gathering. Bell Pepper Turkey Cups are colorful, whimsical and a GREAT way to get your kiddos to eat their veggies!

gather your ingredients:

turkeypepperstuff

4 bell peppers in different colors, washed and seeded

1 large carrot, washed, skinned and cut into thin “sticks” + more for “beaks”

toothpicks

food safe markers

Tzatziki dip or hummus for filling “turkeys”

Adult: Cut tops off of peppers and reserve. Remove seeds. Cut one into thin strips. Cut reserved tops into thin strips too.

Adult: Cut a “head” shape into the 3 remaining peppers (as shown above… It takes a little practice, and doesn’t have to be perfect.) Slice a few slices off of a small carrot or carrot tip. Slice diagonally to make “beaks.”

beaks

Stick beaks to “turkeys” using 1 toothpick per turkey beak.

Now for the fun part! Let your little chef fill the bell pepper turkeys with desired filling (we used the Tzatziki in the photo.) Using a spoon, scoop filling into turkey cups…

add the pepper strip and carrot stick “feathers”…

let your little chef draw a face on the turkeys using food safe markers…

If you’re going to let little ones eat the peppers right away, remove the toothpicks prior to serving… and then, enjoy!
